Upcoming Event: As It Could Be, a Chamber Suite
On Saturday March 19th 7:30pm, the Boston Classical Guitar Society will present an evening concert featuring my 2014 composition As It Could Be, a chamber suite for violin, viola, flute and seven guitars. As part of the BCGS Ensembles Festival, this will be the first performance of this piece since its premiere. Originally written for the Hartt School Guitar Department, As It Could Be is an epic work that will bring together some of the best performers from the region, including guitarists Christopher Ladd, Frank Wallace, Ricardo Saeb, Adam Levin, Will Riley, Charles Ewing, Daniel Acsadi, Robert Ward; violists Mike Kelley and Leticia Prieto Alvarez; violinist Cornelia Schwartz, and flutist Natalia Kaminsky-Palarczyk.
Eight works comprise As It Could Be, a chamber suite commissioned by and dedicated to the Hartt School of Music Guitar Department and its founder/director Richard Provost on the occasion of their 50th anniversary, with support from the Augustine Foundation. AICB was created to bring together a large community of musicians in the performance of a single grand piece. 12-14 musicians are needed to perform the entire work. You can read an interview with Richard Provost here, or read more about the creation of As It Could Be here.
Tickets for the concert are $25 for non-members, and are available here. Select “Saturday evening concert only” if you are not planning to attend the rest of the festival.
The performance will be held in Pickman Hall, at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA — I hope to see you there!
